We love commissions. There’s nothing better than opening up a request and immediately knowing exactly what someone’s imagining, and being excited to bring it to life.

But not every request makes that easy. So we put together this guide to help you write a request that gets you a fast, clear answer (and probably a better piece of art, too).

Start With Our Request Form

All commission requests go through the form on our request page. This isn’t just paperwork; it’s how we make sure nothing gets lost in a DM or buried in an inbox. Once you submit it, here’s what happens:

  1. We read through your request.
  2. We’ll contact you directly to sort out the details. This includes sharing any reference links or photos, confirming whether we’re able to take on the piece, and talking through what pricing would look like based on the scope.

So don’t worry about having every detail perfect before you hit submit. The form starts the conversation; it doesn’t have to end it.

What Makes a Request Great

The best requests we get all tend to share a few things in common. Here’s what to include:

1. Reference Images or Links

Nothing communicates a vision faster than a picture. If you have any of the following, include them:

  • Photos of a character, pet, or person
  • Screenshots from a game or show
  • Colour palettes or mood boards
  • Links to similar art styles you like

Even rough or imperfect references are incredibly helpful. If you don’t have anything yet, that’s okay, too. Just let us know, and we can talk it through when we reach out.

2. A Clear Description of What You Want

Try to answer:

  • Who or what is the subject?
  • What’s the pose, expression, or scene?
  • What style are you hoping for (realistic, stylised, chibi, etc.)?
  • Where will it be used (personal use, print, profile picture, gift)?

You don’t need to write an essay. A few solid sentences go a long way.

3. Your Budget Range (If You Have One)

You don’t have to name an exact number, but even a rough range helps us tailor suggestions. If you’re not sure what’s reasonable, that’s completely fine. Pricing is one of the things we’ll walk you through once we get in touch.

4. Any Deadlines

If your commission is a gift or needs to be ready by a certain date, tell us upfront. We can’t always guarantee rush timelines, but we’ll always be upfront about what’s realistic.

What Happens After You Submit

Once your request comes in through the form, sit tight, we’ll be in touch. When we reach out, we’ll:

  • Confirm whether we’re able to take on the piece
  • Ask for or discuss any reference links/photos if we need more
  • Walk you through what pricing would look like based on complexity, size, and turnaround

There’s no obligation at this stage; it’s just a conversation to see if we’re a good fit for what you have in mind.
